Creative Critical Reflection 1.                   How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups         or issues?                              My media project used the conventions of an alternative video. Our film represented a lower class group. My film used props and costumes to represent a lower class person. Alternative rock videos are usually filmed with a down vibe. I  used a sort of down vibe but we decided to go with somewhat of a nicer background. After looking at a few more videos I also found that the background or setting is also giving off the same feeling. I feel like this will help with the fact that harder times happen to more than just the lower class when it comes to things like payments. My music videos plot was a older man waking up going through his daily boring and stressful morning routine. My video used a slower pace type of editing to put the feeling in place. This all allowed my viewers to see and feel what it

Stressed Out Music Video

Today we finished our music video. This is our second project in this class. This was a lot harder than the last one as it including a lot more filming and a lot harder editing. The acting could have been improved as it felt a bit rushed but it worked out in the end. I defiantly need to work on editing and acting for the next film. Overall I feel ae we have improved a lot from the previous project.

Wrapping it up

Today we finished editing the whole video. Logan did a bit of editing since are last meet in class. Today was definitely one of the hardest days due to the transition we tried to make. While zooming in on the pictures in the album we wanted to smoothly transition into a video. We started off by using a few provided transitions to maybe find one that fits perfectly. Once we found the best transition we  had to make it look smooth as possible. This part of editing probably took 45 minutes. We also had about 3 seconds of extra time. We then had to make the rest of our scenes too the look clean and smooth. We started of  trying to make me walking from the room to the bathroom look it was in one take to the best of our abilities. The flow the film was starting to come together when we has a slight error. We had got caught up editing when we realized we had overpassed the time limit by 10 seconds. This really set us back because we now had to figure out a way to keep our transitions smooth

Production Blog: Editing

Today on the 14th we continued editing our film. This is our second day of editing. We started off by importing are audio back in. We had very poor quality at fist for the music. Now they we have everything we need to start editing we can really get things done. We listened to the video once and realized the ending to our are video was not good so that had to be changed. We also had to start editing the photo album scenes to have clean cuts. We realized that the only way we could get a better ending is by recording a small clip for the end. I plan later today having my brother record me acting to get the best ending. I will redress in the same clothes sit on the same couch and act like I'm stressed. After I do that I will send it to Logan to upload to his computer. We then decide we may want to change the start of our song due to the lyrics fitting better with our video. We decide not to change the beginning of the song because there wasn't enough length and it didn't fit

The Cut

Today we started to edit are music video. First off we started off by importing all the videos onto Logan's computer so we could bring them into iMovie. After everything was imported we put all the videos into the order we wanted them in before editing anything. We then imported are song audio files onto the video to start planning and timing the videos and the audio. We then watched the full unedited video to give a idea of how we wanted things to flow and were we wanted to start the song. We have a lot of excess video so we had lots of editing room. To start editing we cut out all of the video we didn't want. We had around a minute forty in all and cut it down to a minute seventeen for now. After we got the time we wanted on the video we took out all the unnecessary extra time in some of the clips. We realized there was a few parts we didn't like when we were zooming in on the photo album so we might re film those later today. We gave the progress we had a listen and real

Action

One Sunday the 11th we filmed everything we needed to at my house. Only one of the group members good show up so my friend and my brother helped out with the acting. I started off by planning out the scenes and how to dress for each. I had to change into pjs before we started and later on I had to put on a robe. I also cleared out the rooms we were using while also leaving it a bit messy to give off a sad vibe to the video. I was a big part as a actor in the film as I was the main subject. I was filmed in the opening scene as the older person waking up and getting out of bed. For the next scene I put on a robe and walked out the room towards the bathroom. Then I  went in the bathroom and acted like I was brushing my teeth and taking pills. Finally I acted out walking to the couch scanning through bills and picking up and opening the photo album. Most of the parts took a couple of shots as we wanted to get everything perfect. The hardest scene for us was the first as we had to time it

Takeoff

During the Thanksgiving break I was away on a trip with my family so we didn't have anytime to work on the music video then. We went to a place a couple hours away with no internet so I had no access.  After I returned to my house since we are filming there I planned out were we could do each scene. I also have been trying to find a younger kid to act in are video due to the whole theme to be flashback to the past. If things don't work out we will film certain angles to make the person look small. I also set dates with my group mates to meet the 11th to hopefully film the whole project at my house. I found a few props and also clothes around my house to use in the video. I found a lot of clothes that will give off the vibe of a older person. My younger brother has a lot of clothes to make the actor look exactly how we want. For props I found a few toys and also a possible photo album to put the pictures in. I also have been trying to figure out how to do a edit we are planning

Pinpointing it

The first decision I had to make was where to film. I wanted to find a place that felt like it a older and younger mans house. Even though the costumes and acting would have an impact on this, I wanted a setting that would aid in the development of the story. The most important aspect of our video is that it tells a story. We were able to tell this story of a regretful man in greater detail because we chose the location that we did. This will also make watching the video more enjoyable. My home was ideal for this effect. I have a open floor, which allows us to film the more difficult shots in a single take. I have a double-sink bathroom, which gives us more space to film. Because it is so close to the bedroom, we will be able to get a shot of the actor walking from the bathroom to the living room. My room may be the only issue with my house. I has football players and a massive Green Bay Packers logo on my walls which is not the best for a older mans room. The flashbacks will be sh
